Configure microphones and speakers, then optionally use push-to-talk (PTT) so you only transmit while holding a key.
Device selection
In Settings → Audio (and on pre-join):
- Mic and speaker lists should populate when the browser grants permissions.
- Switching devices mid-call should work without a full room reconnect.
Video cameras are under Settings → Video. See Account & Settings.
Enable push-to-talk
- Open Settings → Audio.
- Enable push-to-talk.
- Capture a hold key with the key capture control.
- Save if the UI requires an explicit save — preferences should persist across reload.
In a meeting
| Step | Expected |
|---|---|
| Hold the PTT key | Mic transmits; others hear you |
| Release the key | Mic muted; others stop hearing you |
| Indicators | Local controls and remote tiles may show PTT state when implemented |
| Disable PTT | Normal mute toggle behavior returns |
Do not leave PTT enabled with a stuck open mic after you mean to be silent — if that happens, disable PTT or mute explicitly.
Deafen / headphones
If your build exposes deafen or headphone controls, they must not leave remote audio stuck for others. Deafen is local listen state, not remote mute of other people (unless combined with moderation actions).
